The game's platform family includes Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and mobile phones. That does not mean every edition launched in 2004. The handheld and mobile adaptations are distinct from the PC and home-console career; identify the edition before following a guide.
Short answers
- PS5: no EA version identified. The PS5SX2 author currently lists Underground 2 session reports, not a universal compatibility guarantee. It requires a jailbroken console, your own PS2 BIOS, and game files; it is not a PlayStation Store release.
- PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series: the original-release list does not establish current backward-compatibility status. The 2004 Xbox disc was made for the original Xbox; do not buy it assuming it will run on a newer console.
- PlayStation 2: an original retail edition exists. Use matching-region compatible hardware or an emulator with legally obtained BIOS and game files. Do not treat a PS2 disc as a PS5 backward-compatible title.
- PSP: Underground Rivals (2005) is a separate game, not a portable release of Underground 2's Bayview career.
- Switch: no cartridge from EA. A static recompile of the Xbox version exists for people who supply their own files. See the Switch page.
- Android: no official APK. Emulator options are on the Android page. This site will not link an APK of the PC game.
- Mac: no 2004 Mac release. A community native port needs your PC files. See Mac.
- Steam Deck: community guides describe the PC build under Proton, not a native Steam edition or guaranteed compatibility. See Steam Deck.
Questions people ask
Is it on PS5?
There is no EA PS5 edition identified here. PS5SX2 is a community PCSX2 port requiring a jailbroken PS5 and your own PS2 BIOS and games. Its current author-maintained table includes Underground 2 reports, but explicitly says the table is not a compatibility guarantee. This guide has not tested it.
Is it backward compatible on PS4 or Xbox One?
The cited platform list covers the original releases; it does not establish current PS4 or Xbox One backward compatibility. Check the console maker's current compatibility catalog rather than inferring status from the 2004 platform list.
What about PSP?
Need for Speed: Underground Rivals is a different 2005 PSP game. It is not this career.
