Extra Options is the script mod most car and unlock guides assume is already installed. The repository is ExOptsTeam/NFSU2ExOpts. It loads through the same ASI loader as the widescreen fix.
What people turn on
The author's current source INI documents UnlockAllThings (F5 by default), StartingCash, GameRegion, and UnlockRegionalCars. Use the INI supplied with your release rather than assuming source and release files are identical. UnlockRegionalCars specifically describes making the 106 and Corsa available in the NTSC game; it is not a universal repair for mismatched game assets. Unlocking items is not a 100% save.
Checks when the mod does not behave as expected
- No effect: check that the ASI loader and ExOpts files are beside the intended executable and that the release supports that executable. Missing effects alone do not prove which file is wrong.
- Crash after adding a pack: inspect the included scripts and avoid duplicate plugins. Test underground2.net separately before adding standalone ExOpts; a crash alone is not proof of a duplicate.
- Unexpected regional cars: compare GameRegion and UnlockRegionalCars with the author's comments and your edition. See the car list for the standard North American and European roster split.
Questions people ask
Where is the project?
GitHub: ExOptsTeam/NFSU2ExOpts, GPL-3.0. Read the INI that ships with the release you downloaded.
Does it replace cheat codes?
No. Console and PC phrase codes still exist. ExOpts is a script that can unlock career items without those phrases.
It crashes after I enable every toggle.
Turn the toggles off, boot, and enable one. Also check you did not combine it with UG2.net.
