To advance, check the active sponsor's race requirements, available URL events, and DVD opportunities unlocked by your current car's visual rating. More ordinary wins alone do not fix a missing DVD shoot. Career opens City Core, Beacon Hill, Jackson Heights, Coal Harbor East, then Coal Harbor West; use the checklist below before searching the whole city for another race.
Stuck with no races? Check these gates in order
- Open career progress and your signed sponsor contract. Check URL wins, sponsor-selected wins and ordinary wins separately; overall completion percentage is not a next-stage checklist.
- Finish the sponsor-selected races and available URL events. Match your contract to the quota table below rather than assuming all visible street races are mandatory.
- Check the visual rating of the car you are actually driving. DVD availability depends on visual customization, not engine power. Use Body, Graphics and Car Specialties shops if the rating is short of the reference target below.
- Return to free roam, read any cover-opportunity SMS, and complete the DVD event. Buying parts makes an opportunity available; it does not complete the shoot or sponsor contract.
- If a URL event is still missing, inspect remaining active-stage races and hidden-race SMS clues. Garage > World Map can recover missed races from completed stages, but is not proof that every current-stage hidden event is immediately selectable.
DVD covers: useful visual-rating targets
The Visual Reputation Remover author, thelink2012, documents that Underground 2 visual rating controls DVD-cover availability. The author fixes rating at values sufficient for each stage's cover opportunities. Those documented values give a practical reference when an opportunity is missing; they are not a table of original-game exact minimum ratings for each individual DVD.
| Author stage | Sufficient rating | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0 stars | Intro reference, not an extra sixth district. |
| 1 | 1 star | The author's chosen value; not evidence of a mandatory Stage 1 DVD. |
| 2 | 3 stars | Sufficient reference for cover opportunities, not a completed-DVD count. |
| 3 | 5.5 stars | Check visual customization when a cover opportunity is missing. |
| 4 | 8 stars | A sufficient value, not a claim that every individual cover requires exactly eight. |
| 5 onward | 10 stars | Final-stage sufficient target; reaching it does not finish the shoot or contract. |
You do not need to install that mod to distinguish rating from event completion: customize the car, check its rating, then follow the cover message and finish the event. The patch itself changes the rating system, so its sufficient values must not be relabeled as measured vanilla minima. DVD opportunities and magazine covers are separate objectives; do not count an unrelated magazine shoot as a completed DVD. For the relevant locations, use the shop map and routes.
| Stage | Area opened | Ludo guide total | Mode split printed by Ludo |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | City Core | Not provided in the checked stage summary | No complete split verified |
| 2 | Beacon Hill | 38 (reported) | Circuit 14; Sprint 5; Drift 6; Drag 5; Street X 5; URL 3 |
| 3 | Jackson Heights | 53 (reported) | Circuit 14; Sprint 8; Drift 10; Drag 8; Street X 8; URL 5 |
| 4 | Coal Harbor East | 68 (reported) | Circuit 22; Sprint 11; Drift 7; Drag 12; Street X 9; URL 7 |
| 5 | Coal Harbor West | 70 (reported) | Circuit 27; Sprint 10; Drift 12; Drag 6; Street X 6; URL 9 |
Ludo Part 11 labels one race #005/218, but its printed Stage 2-5 totals sum to 229 (38 + 53 + 68 + 70), before Stage 1. Keep these attributed figures separate from your in-game progress counters; neither number is a reliable all-career target.
Sponsor contract gates
| Contract sequence | URL wins required | Sponsor-selected wins | Other chosen races |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3 | 3 | 9 |
| 2 | 5 | 3 | 19 |
| 3 | 7 | 3 | 29 |
| 4 | 9 | 3 | 34 |
These IGN contract quotas are also stated in Ludo Part 4: every contract requires three sponsor-selected wins, plus its URL and ordinary-race quota. Read each row as one signed contract, not as a numbered district unlock. Find the row matching your active contract and check all three counters; sponsor payment differences do not remove the race requirements.
What a stage gates
- Cars. The vehicle table groups unlocks by reported stage. The exact URL race number differs across older guide tables, so use the in-game progress and the source note rather than treating an old race number as universal.
- Unique parts. Outrun counts are per stage. See unique upgrades.
- Hidden races. A stage 5 message cannot fire in stage 2. See hidden races.
Time
For player-submitted completion times, see the dedicated playtime page. To progress now, use the active contract and cover-event checklist rather than trying to reach a disputed total race count.
Questions people ask
How many stages?
Five. Fandom ties one new garage slot to each stage, five total.
What is URL?
The Underground Racing League. Older car tables attach URL numbers and stages to many later cars, but the serial numbers do not agree across the sources checked here.
How many events are in the career?
There is no consistent total in the sources checked. Ludo labels a race #005/218, but its own Stage 2–5 totals add up to 229 before Stage 1. Do not treat 218 as a verified complete-career count.
