Unique parts are not in the normal shop until you earn them. Fandom's rule: win a set number of outruns in a stage, then beat the matching time trial, in the car that should receive the part.
| Stage | Examples | Gate |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Factor X, Speedline, Trap hoods | 4 outruns |
| 3 | Unique rims, plus engine, tires, transmission | 6 outruns for those rims; 3 for those performance parts |
| 4 | Spoilers and vinyls; brakes, ECU, turbo | 4, 6, or 9 outruns depending on the row |
| 5 | Wide bodies; nitrous, suspension, weight | 11 outruns for bodies; 6 for those performance parts |
Wide bodies
The four names are Vapor, Mantis, Armageddon, and Apocalypse. Fandom says you choose one style for the car that did the 11 outruns. After you beat Caleb, customise mode offers every style, and the parts can be carbon fiber.

Questions people ask
Do outruns unlock the part for every car?
No. Fandom says the part unlocks for the car that completed the outruns and the time trial. Beating the career opens the unique visual parts more broadly.
How many wide-body styles are there?
Four: Vapor, Mantis, Armageddon, and Apocalypse. Each is 11 outruns in stage 5. You pick one style until Caleb is defeated, then customise mode offers all styles.
Console hood bug?
Fandom notes that on GameCube, PS2, and Xbox the Trap carbon hood can be mislabeled Factor X after the stage-2 hood unlock.
